Course description

This intermediate course focuses on all four core language skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening.

After completing Comprehensive Chinese 3 and 4, this is the course to consolidate and further develop all HSK 3 key content more logically and systematically.

The course covers making an appointment over the phone, discussing paintings/exams, discussing restaurants, trying on shoes/clothes, talking about someone’s dress/home decoration, talking about work/eating out, picking up someone at the airport, gifts brought from hometown, talking about the police investigation, asking about the things missing, discussing house cleaning duty, booking a hotel, talking about weather, luggage overweight at the airport, etc.

This course is HSK level 3 (part 3) or CEFRL B1(part 3).

We recommend that at least three hours of independent study be undertaken each week to ensure students can keep up with the pace of the course.

For those who are fast learners and confident at learning in a relatively shorter period, there is the option to skip this course and move straight to Comprehensive Chinese 6 (HSK 4 Part 1).

Please feel free to contact your Chinese tutors or us (confucius@manchester.ac.uk) for further discussion.
