About | 关于我们
The Institute received its approval in July 2005 and was formally launched in October 2006.
A partnership between The University of Manchester, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) and Beijing Normal University, Manchester is the proud home to the second Confucius Institute to be established in the UK.
Each Confucius Institute serves its community in a different way. Here in Manchester our focus is on the following four key areas:
- Chinese learning, teaching and testing
- Promotion of contemporary China
- Education exchange
- Engagement with China
Our main purpose is the teaching of Chinese language through our evening classes, school partnerships and teacher training programmes. Secondly, we aim to encourage a broader and deeper understanding of Chinese culture and contemporary China through our vibrant public events programme.
Over the last decade we have taught thousands of students, built links with over thirty schools in the region and worked with major cultural festivals all over the city, establishing ourselves as a centre for Chinese language teaching and a hub for Chinese culture in the North West. We celebrated our tenth anniversary in 2016 and look forward to many more successful years.
