Philosophy Summer School

Founded in 2015, the Philosophy Summer School is designed for international university students who are curious about traditional Chinese culture and its impact on the contemporary culture of China.

The invited speakers are world-renowned scholars who offer unique insights into traditional Chinese philosophy and thought-provoking discussions on contemporary China.

The Summer School also presents a unique opportunity to meet young people from around the world who share a passion to explore the treasures of Chinese civilisation.

The Summer School will take place from 8 to 22 July 2018 in Beijing on the theme of Confucianism & a Community of Shared Future for Mankind. This programme will provide scholarships of different levels for most of the participants.

This programme is offered in conjunction with Beijing Normal University (BNU), the partner university in China for the Confucius Institute. BNU offers a number of scholarships for Institute and University of Manchester students to attend their short programmes in China.

The application process is now open for 2018 Philosophy Summer School.

Applicants must be a student of The University of Manchester or a student of the Manchester Confucius Institute and aged between 18-30.
