China-UK-Europe Economic Interconnection

The University of Manchester will host annual conference to discuss innovation and economic transformation and its impact on the international community
Over 150 economists, scholars and policy makers from the UK, Europe, China and the rest of the world will gather at The University of Manchester for the annual conference of the Chinese Economic Association (Europe/UK) to discuss China’s New Development: innovation and economic transformation and its impact on the international community.
Confirmed speakers include Professor Justine Lin, former Vice President and Chief Economist of the World Bank, now honorary Dean of Peking University, Professor Shi Li, Professor Weisen Li of Beijing Normal University and Fudan University respectively. Invited speakers include Professor Jim O’Neil, former Treasury Minister and Goldman Sachs chief economist, Martin Wolf, chief economics commentator at the Financial Times.
On 1st September the China-UK-Europe Forum will be held, comprising of two round-table discussions with senior government officials, business leaders and eminent scholars. The first discussion will focus on China’s investment in the UK with particular reference to the “Northern Powerhouse” and the second will consider the myriad challenges to China posed by the momentous and ongoing political-economic developments in the UK, Europe and USA. This forum will be co-organised by the Confucius Institute and the Chinese Economic Association (Europe/UK).
