A busy month of workshops

31 October 2017

In October we held a number of successful China Day workshops and engaged around 120 Primary and Secondary school children.

Cherry Grove Primary School requested 18 workshops for three groups of 26 pupils, including Chinese legend storytelling, Calligraphy, Chinese brush painting, Chinese Classic Dance, TaiChi and Chinese Language Taster. Our team of teachers have never delivered such a high number of individual workshops. Due to the travelling distance, the school decided to come to Manchester and engage in our China Day workshops on campus. Previously the school learned about Chinese culture but since that programme is no longer available, the distance didn’t stop them asking us for help.

Although it wasn’t all that easy to organise something that we normally carry out in schools, at University, we are proud to say that the day was a success and that all pupils thoroughly enjoyed their taste of China.

All in all, we are excited to be able to offer workshops to schools that are outside of Greater Manchester and hope to increase our engagement with more schools in the future.
