YCT – How did it go?

27 June 2016

On 20 May 2016, teachers from our Confucius Institute organized a YCT Level 1 Exam for nearly 100 primary school students for the first time in 3 of our key schools; Oasis Academy Limeside, Bolton School for Junior Boys and St Pauls CofE Primary School.

YCT tests are an international standardized test of Chinese language proficiency that was specifically set up to test younger student’s abilities. The YCT Level 1 Exam that these students sat was a written exam and any students who passed can understand and use some of the most common and basic Chinese phrases which will assist them greatly in further Chinese studies.

We were very proud of the students from the three schools as each school performed well and achieved strong pass rates with individual students achieving extremely high marks. Students who took the test let us know that the test was a good incentive to encourage them to study hard in their Mandarin classes and demonstrated to them how much progress they had made.

We hope to hold further YCT Exams in schools in the future as they are a really useful reference for Chinese language training in schools. Teachers from each school were instrumental in the successful organization of the exams and we thank them for their diligence and hard work in making the exams run as smoothly as they did.
