St Paul's CE Primary School is the first Confucius Classroom of the Confucius Institute Manchester, established in 2008.
As a Confucius Classroom, St Paul not only has their local qualified teacher Ms Lily Deng teaching Chinese from Year 2 to Year 6 within the curriculum, but also their own Hanban Volunteer teacher Miss Xuan Cao, who helps with outreach actives.
Confucius Classrooms receive support in the form of annual funding and language support resources.
The school can also apply for a qualified teacher from Hanban to organise open days and other festival celebration to serve the local community and help introducing Chinese Language and Chinese Culture to other schools.
Currently, the Confucius Institute Manchester has three Confucius Classrooms in primary schools and is applying for two more in local secondary schools.
In order to become a Confucius classroom, the school should already embed Chinese Language teaching into the curriculum and be willing to commit to a long term development plan.
The Confucius Institute will provide support during the application process, annual budget application and to your teaching staff.
Our vision is to give every child in the Greater Manchester area the chance to have access to learning Mandarin and experiencing Chinese Culture.
