Manchester's sister city link with Wuhan dates back to 1986 and is based on civic visits, educational and cultural exchange between the two. In the past 10 years, Wuhan positioned itself as a hub and megacity for Central China and its ambitious urbanisation plan received much publicity both in and outside China.
The City hosts over 20 universities including top research universities like Wuhan and Huazhong University of Science and Technology as well as Wuhan Conservatory of Music and Hubei Institute of Fine Arts.
Professor Clive Agnew, Vice President of The University of Manchester, was part of the Manchester delegation visiting the city in March to revive and strengthen the partnership between the two cities.
We hope to help Manchester schools to develop sister school links there and further the educational exchange.
