Resources for Schools
Hundreds of schools in the UK are beginning to prioritise learning about China and Chinese language at a time when China is increasing its influence across the world.
Learning Mandarin Chinese fits into Breadth of Learning aspect of the Communication and Languages primary area of learning and can help children to develop a deeper understanding how language works as it is so different from other European languages.
Our teaching and learning programmes are designed for schools that recognise the importance of familiarising their pupils with Chinese cultural and linguistic practice but do not yet have the capacity to introduce these elements into their core curriculum.
Our China Day programme offers a flexible selection of workshops offering stimulating language and cultural sessions to your pupils. We can design a bespoke package of activities for your China Day, selected from a list of options that range from language and folk music to cooking and martial arts.
We also have a teacher training programme that will prepare English-speaking teachers to deliver Chinese language taster sessions with the aid of tailor-made courseware and multimedia tools; enable teachers to introduce Chinese arts & crafts, songs & games as well as sports activities with step-by-step instructions and templates
To enhance the breadth of learning of existing students of Chinese or older students or teachers, there is also a 2-week Summer Intensive Mandarin Chinese Course which is designed to develop skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
There are two Confucius Classrooms that have been set up with the support of the Confucius Institute in Manchester.
