Course description:
This is an intermediate level language course which teaches the skills of reading, listening, speaking and writing in Mandarin Chinese. Each text is a situational dialogue and a short passage on a functional theme. Emphasis will be placed on training students understanding more complex sentences and short passages, identifying more Chinese characters and reproducing more complex sentences. Writing and conversational practices will help you to communicate effectively and properly in different situations.
This course covers Lessons 25 to 30 of Boya Chinese I and Lessons 31 to 34 of Boya Chinese II.
Learning outcomes:
On successful completion of this course unit, students will be able to:
- Communicate with others on some familiar topics, and compose simple passages
- Grasp 650 Chinese words and use them with a degree of proficiency, and master 450 common Chinese characters
- Read and write common textual materials such as notes, messages and e-mails in social interactions
- Achieve H.S.K Grade Ⅲ or equivalent
