Course description:
This is a beginner's course which focuses on developing the skills of listening and speaking in Mandarin Chinese. You will also learn to read and write. The course aims to equip students with useful words and phrases for practical use. It encompasses some communicative functions such as greeting, making an acquaintance, making an inquiry (about time/ directions/ reservations), and fulfilling daily needs (purchasing items / catching buses/ ordering food) etc.
The course covers Lessons 1 to 10 in Confidence Chinese Volume 1.
Learning outcomes:
On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Speak with a degree of fluency and acquire the confidence and ability to have simple conversations with native speakers, which will satisfy one's requirement in studying and travelling to China.
- Have established a core vocabulary of 150 Chinese words used in everyday contexts.
