YCT, as the Youth Chinese Test is more widely known as, will take place for the first time in Greater Manchester in May at St Paul Primary School and Bolton School.

As one of the international standardised Chinese language tests launched by Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarters), the YCT test is aiming at examining non-native primary and secondary pupils’ abilities to use Chinese in their daily and academic lives, both in written and oral Chinese.

For three years now, Chinese teachers from the Confucius Institute have helped teaching Chinese at the two Confucius Classrooms and chose the different test levels for the pupils.

By taking on TCSOL (Certificate Examination for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages) in addition to HSK and YCT, the Confucius Institute at The University of Manchester has become the biggest test centre for Chinese language proficiency outside London.
